Range Rover
(1971)

The Range Rover was one of the first vehicles with “Permanent” four wheel drive and has a lockable differential in the transmission between front and rear axels. This is one of the earliest off the Solihull (Birmingham) production line.

Although originally powered by a V8 3.5 litre petrol engine this machine now has a Perkins 4.236 which is the engine used in the MF 265 and other tractors.

In the early eighties the suspension was modified and upgraded with double springs to permit agricultural trailers to be towed. A heavy front bumper with ball hitch was fitted to allow the easy shunting of trailers.

Regrettably the total refurbishment of this vehicle could not be completed in time for the Bawnboy festival this year. The restoration was only started two months ago.
